The Supreme Committee for Managing the 2026 Gharyan University Year of Excellence organized two workshops to establish specialized interdisciplinary research teams in environmental adaptation and health and food security.
In its pursuit of strengthening the scientific research system and directing it toward national priority issues, the Supreme Committee for Excellence organized today the inaugural workshop for the Environmental Adaptation Research Team and the inaugural workshop for the Health and Food Security Research Team, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members and researchers from various disciplines.The two workshops aimed to establish the scientific and organizational foundations for the teams’ work and to build a shared vision that helps guide research efforts toward addressing environmental, health, and food challenges, thereby enhancing the university’s role in producing knowledge and providing scientific solutions to problems facing Libyan society.The workshops featured dialogue sessions and brainstorming that addressed the philosophy of research team work, governance and management mechanisms, and the identification of research priorities, along with discussing several proposals for developmental research projects that could contribute to supporting health and food security, strengthening adaptation to environmental changes, and attracting research partnerships and funding at both national and international levels.Participants also emphasized the importance of adopting a multidisciplinary research model that brings together scientific expertise from different faculties, aligning with global trends in research and innovation, and contributing to transforming research results into practical solutions and policies that support sustainable development.These workshops come as part of Gharyan University’s efforts to establish specialized research teams in priority fields, thereby enhancing its position as a leading academic institution that contributes to serving society, supporting the development process, and achieving excellence in scientific research and innovation.
