This morning, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Gharyan, the sixth chess championship at the level of Libyan universities kicked off, hosted by Gharyan University with the participation of 13 Libyan universities. The event is part of the activity map organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the supervision of the University Activity Administration, and is being held from July 21–22, 2026, at the Youth Hostel in Gharyan.The championship opened with welcoming speeches delivered by Dr. Ali Al-Faqi, Acting President of Gharyan University; Mr. Mohamed Al-Sunni, General Secretary and Chairman of the Supreme Committee; Dr. Ammar Milad Salem, Director of the University Activity Administration; along with the President of the General Student Union of Gharyan University and Mr. Tarek Shaban, Director of the University Activity Administration at Gharyan University.Speakers emphasized the importance of holding such championships to support student activities, strengthen the spirit of fair competition among Libyan university students, and discover talents in chess. They wished all participants success and a well-organized and technically strong championship.
