The sixth chess championship at the level of Libyan universities concluded in Gharyan, hosted by Gharyan University with the participation of 13 universities from across Libya. The event was held within the framework of the university activity map of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the supervision of the University Activity Administration, at the Youth Hostel in Gharyan from July 20 to 21, 2026.The top five rankings in the championship were as follows:First place: Student Mohamed Khalifa Al-Muntasir (University of Tripoli)Second place: Rowad Abdulrahman Al-Aswad (Gharyan University)Third place: Mohamed Abdullah Hudud (University of Zintan)Fourth place: Al-Makki Dhou Abdulhamid (University of Bani Walid)Fifth place: Muftah Al-Nuaeiri (Al-Asmariya University)The championship witnessed strong competitions among the participating students, reflecting the remarkable level chess has reached in Libyan universities. It was marked by fair competition and sportsmanship, fostering communication and exchange of experiences among students from different universities.This championship comes within the Ministry’s interest in supporting student activities, developing intellectual and creative capacities, and instilling values of positive competition and teamwork, contributing to the advancement of university life at the national level.Gharyan University extends its congratulations to all winners and participants, affirming that participation itself is a victory.
