As part of enhancing the training level of students at the Faculty of Health Sciences – Gharyan University, the Laboratory Department organized a distinguished training activity on Thursday, June 12, 2025, which had been prepared for over a week.

This practical day included the execution of several anatomical experiments on animal samples, aimed at studying and preparing tissue slides representing different types of body tissues, including epithelial, connective, muscular, and nervous tissues.

The slide preparation process went through several precise steps, starting with fixation in formalin, followed by water removal using alcohols of increasing concentration, then alcohol extraction using xylene to achieve the necessary transparency, and finally embedding in paraffin wax.

The final step of taking tissue sections using a microtome is expected to be completed at the Faculty of Science, as the device is not currently available in the Health Sciences faculty. The results will later be compared with permanent slides imported from abroad.

It is worth noting that this laboratory work was directly supervised by Dr. Kaltoum Mahni, professor of tissue techniques, who made significant scientific and training efforts that are highly appreciated.
