As part of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning's role in linking academic learning with practical experience—and with a commitment to strengthening students' cultural and architectural identity—the department places special emphasis on reviving Libya’s urban heritage through field activities and initiatives.
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Architecture Department, under the supervision of Professor Alhadi Fakron, Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, organized a trip to Leptis Magna to explore the city's structures and landmarks, including the Septimius Arch, Hadrianic Baths, Forum of Septimius, Colonnaded Street, temples, gates, sports square, Punic market, Roman theater, port, Colosseum, Roman horse racing track, and wrestling arena.
The visit was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Director of the International Cooperation Office at Gharyan University, Dr. Mahmoud Ashour, along with Professor Mustafa Dadoo and administrative office members, as well as some students' parents. Additionally, faculty members residing in the city of Khoms, including Engineer Nasser (tour guide of the archaeological site), Dr. Tarek Hussein, Dr. Khaled Kleeb, Dr. Osama Ashkorfu, and Dr. Mohamed Zayed, helped facilitate the visit.
