Symposium on Scientific Research Missions: Between Reality and Aspiration.
On Thursday morning, July 17, 2025, a symposium titled “Scientific Research Missions: Between Reality and Aspiration” was held in the city of Zawiya, organized by the Libyan House for Science and Culture in partnership with West Coast University and Al-Qimmah Al-Haditha University.
The event was attended by the Director General of the Libyan House for Science and Culture, the President of Gharyan University, the Advisor for Renewable Energy Affairs at the Libyan Research Authority, the Presidents of Al-Qimmah Al-Haditha and West Coast Universities, the Media Advisor to the National Anti-Corruption Authority, the Executive Director of the Technology Hub, the representative of North American University in Sfax, Tunisia, the Director General of the Maghreb Union for Tourism Media, the Deans of Law and Sharia Faculties at Sabratha and Zawiya Universities, the Dean of the International Knowledge Union College, and the Head of International Cooperation at the Mediterranean International University in Benghazi, along with a number of researchers and specialists in scientific research.
The symposium covered several key topics, including:
- Evaluation of the current status of scientific research offices in private Libyan universities according to regulations and laws
- The role of Libyan universities in promoting scientific research
- Legislative challenges in protecting intellectual property rights in the age of artificial intelligence
- The importance of journalistic archives in scientific research
The scientific committee of the symposium also provided space for contributions from participants and experts in academic and research fields.
On the sidelines of the symposium, memoranda of understanding were signed for joint cooperation between Gharyan University, the Libyan House for Science and Culture, and the universities of Al-Qimmah Al-Haditha and West Coast. These agreements included several provisions related to collaboration in academic, research, and training fields.
