As part of strengthening the university’s academic role in discussing priority economic issues, the Faculty of Accounting / Department of Economics organized a workshop entitled “The Role of Financial Markets in Supporting the Economy and Promoting Investment (The Libyan Stock Market as a Model),” with the participation of representatives from the stock market, academics, researchers, and those interested in economic and financial affairs.  

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of financial markets in supporting economic development through their role in mobilizing savings, providing sources of financing, and enhancing investment efficiency, thereby contributing to achieving sustainable economic growth and diversifying income sources.  

It addressed the reality of the Libyan stock market, reviewed the main challenges it faces, and explored opportunities for its development in line with economic and financial changes, emphasizing the importance of improving the legislative and regulatory environment, strengthening governance and transparency principles, spreading investment culture, and encouraging companies to list in the financial market.  

The workshop also witnessed fruitful scientific discussions on ways to activate the role of the Libyan stock market in supporting the national economy and enhancing its ability to attract local and foreign investments, thereby achieving economic development goals and improving the efficiency of the financial sector.  

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants stressed the importance of continuing such scientific events that enrich knowledge and strengthen cooperation between academic institutions and economic and financial bodies, supporting efforts to develop the Libyan stock market and enhancing its role in serving the national economy.
