The General Forum for Sociology Professors and Specialists was held under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Minister Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Dr. Ali Al-Fiqi, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Gharyan University, participated in the forum on Monday, along with the Director General of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, the President of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, and the President of the Libyan Association of Sociology, as well as a distinguished group of professors and researchers from various educational and research institutions in Libya.
The forum discussed several key topics related to the future of sociology, including:
- The role of the Libyan Association of Sociology in unifying efforts and strengthening the professional and academic presence of the discipline at the national level.
- The development of sociology departments in Libyan universities to meet current needs.
- Enhancing graduate studies programs to improve scientific research and elevate the level of national expertise.
- Forming specialized committees to follow up on the forum’s outcomes and develop practical plans for implementing the recommendations.
The minister emphasized the ministry’s commitment to sociology’s vital role in understanding Libya’s social reality and the necessity of involving intellectuals and experts in proposing scientific and practical solutions to societal issues.
The forum concluded with several important recommendations that are expected to open new avenues for academic and research work.
