Description

The College of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery relies on the academic year system, where the student studies a group during each academic year


of courses according to the credit hours system, and the time period allocated for each academic year to deliver lectures


It ranges between 28 and 34 hours per week, according to the study plan for the academic year approved by the College Council, and is not included


Including the duration of registration and the duration of final exams, study at the college is according to the full academic year system as follows


the next:


1. The beginning and end of school are determined by a decision from the Ministry of Education. The decision also determines the mid-year holiday and exams, taking into account the circumstances


For colleges where study requires practical training, it may not be suspended or suspended except by a decision thereof.


2. The academic year usually begins on the first (1) of October and ends on the (31) of July, unless otherwise stated.

Medical physics is a branch of applied physics that specializes in applying the principles and methods of physics to diagnose and treat diseases. It is a science that combines biophysics and medical bioengineering, but it differs in the method of objective treatment. Medical physics also deals with the physical concepts of devices used in the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases

Dental Material” is one of the basic courses in dentistry, as it provides first-year dental students with basic information about the properties of materials used in the restoration and treatment of oral and dental diseases. It also provides sufficient information about the basic components of each material, the method of mixing materials, and how to use them, in addition to introducing the advantages and disadvantages of each material

Removable Prosthodontics l (pre-clinical stage): It is a branch of dentistry that replaces teeth and oral tissues that are missing for any reason. This type of prosthesis can be removed and cleaned daily. This course introduces the student to the different types of complete or partial dentures in terms of the materials used, the advantages and disadvantages of each type, in addition to the practical laboratory steps for making such prostheses.

This course introduces the student to the different types of complete or partial dentures in terms of the materials used, the advantages and disadvantages of each type, in addition to the practical clinical steps for diagnosing and preparing pathological cases for making removable dentures.

This course covers general and dental pharmacology topics, including the basics of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug effects, autonomic nervous system pharmacology, anti-inflammatories and central analgesia, antibiotics, and miscellaneous matters related to oral and dental medicine.

The oral diagnosis course aims to teach the student how to obtain and record a comprehensive history, perform an appropriate physical examination, interpret the findings and organize appropriate further investigations while awaiting their referral to the appropriate department(s) for comprehensive treatment. Various manifestations of facial pain of dental and non-dental origin, their diagnosis and management are also considered. Formulate and rationalize initial treatment planning for their patients along with handling medically vulnerable patients. Oral medicine bridges the gap between the medical and dental professions. The Bachelor of Oral Medicine course teaches the clinical presentation, diagnosis and management of common diseases of the oral mucosa including the salivary glands and oral manifestations of systemic diseases. Teaching also considered the prevention, diagnosis and management of malignant and potentially malignant lesions and conditions of the oral mucosa. · Oral radiology is an integral part of oral diagnosis and oral medicine course. This part of the course is designed to provide all information relevant to X-ray production, intraoral and extraoral radiography of oral and facial structures, processing of X-ray films, radiation risks and means of protection. Providing students with adequate knowledge and intellectual skills regarding various diseases and lesions affecting the oral and para-oral structures. • Provide students with an appropriate build-up of knowledge covering emergencies related to oral and maxillofacial surgery and common diseases of the oral and maxillofacial region in children and adults. • To enable students to recognize important clinical lesions and become familiar with modern methods of diagnosis and proper management. • To produce a graduate qualified in performing tooth extraction under local and general anesthesia, preventing and managing related complications, gaining reasonable knowledge and understanding of various diseases, injuries and infections occurring in the oral and maxillofacial area and providing solution to such common cases.

Fixed prosthodontics l is a field of prosthodontics that focuses on permanent dental implants. These compensations include crowns, bridges (fixed dentures), onlays (inlay and onlay), and veneers, in addition to knowing the advantages and disadvantages of these compensations from a functional and cosmetic standpoint. There are many materials used in this field, as each material has advantages and disadvantages that distinguish it from each other, and its use varies according to the disease condition.

The department of orthodonic ,pediodontic and and preventive and dental public health care and deal with all age groupsof society in general andchildrenin particular .it studies third and fourth years of students Orthodontic unit Pediodontic unit Preventive dentistry and dental public health

The Department of Microbiology teaches students the course Medical Microbiology (Medical Bacteriology), which includes bacteriology, medical mycology, medical virology, and immunology. Studying the microbes that cause human diseases and how to prevent, diagnose and treat infectious diseases.

The branch specializes in teaching diseases of the gums and supporting tissues and methods of diagnosing and treating them clinically to third and fourth year dentistry students.

Department of Physiology About the department The department teaches the prescribed curriculum for organ physiology, physiology of body fluids, blood, immunity, muscle physiology, autonomic nervous system, circulatory system, heart, respiratory system, urinary system, digestive system, metabolic physiology, and temperature.

The Department of Histology is one of the departments of basic medical sciences. Histology and cell science is known as a science concerned with studying the microscopic structure of cells and various tissues in the human body, as each tissue has unique cells that distinguish it and differ from one organ to another according to the function of each organ in the human body. Histology has an essential role in understanding and distinguishing the different types of cells in the human body. It also helps in understanding the physiology of cells and tissues (organ functions) and also understanding how any defect or changes in the natural structure of the cells of the human body leads to the emergence of various diseases (pathology) and how we diagnose Diseases that affect various cells and tissues of the body. This science also helps to understand how the various medications work that treat all diseases that affect the human body.
