In the interest of the Faculty of Science, Gharyan, to enhance environmental awareness and achieve sustainable development, the faculty organized a special day today, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, which included a tree-planting campaign under the slogan "Tree of Life, for a Better Environment".

This campaign was supervised by the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Office at the faculty, the Community Service and Environment Office, and in collaboration with professors, employees, students, and volunteers from the local community. The campaign aimed to reflect the importance of preserving the environment and increasing green spaces within the university campus.

The event opened with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty, who welcomed the esteemed attendees and emphasized the importance of this initiative in raising environmental awareness within the campus, noting that attention to the environment has become a priority that all institutions should promote.

Following this was a speech by the Director of the Community Service and Environment Office at the faculty, who spoke about the importance of collective cooperation in implementing sustainable environmental projects and the role of the faculty in promoting the culture of sustainable agriculture.

Afterwards, Professor Khairiya Al-Saadi, Head of the Botany Department, gave a valuable lecture on effective and simplified methods for fertilizing plants, emphasizing the importance of sustainable agriculture and how to apply these techniques in homes and gardens without needing a large budget.

In conclusion, the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Office at the faculty gave a closing speech, expressing her gratitude to all participants and organizers, noting that the campaign was the result of fruitful cooperation between the faculty's professors, employees, students, and the Tamkeen Organization for Social Development. She mentioned that Mrs. Najia Masoud Al-Saeed worked diligently and proficiently for more than three years as the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Office at the faculty and left her final mark in this campaign before submitting her resignation and being assigned other duties, wishing her success in her future endeavors.

The event was also attended by several prominent figures, including the University President, the Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Office at the university, and the Gharyan Scout Commission. There was a closing speech by the Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Office at the university, who praised the importance of these initiatives in promoting a sustainable university environment and commended the faculty's role in raising environmental awareness and developing sustainable agriculture projects.

The event also witnessed wide participation from all members of the university community, with staff and faculty members donating money to support the tree-planting campaign. Several nursery and pottery owners also participated in the exhibition held on the sidelines of the event.

This event is a step towards building a more sustainable environment at the Faculty of Science and reflects the fruitful cooperation among professors, staff, students, and local community members to make our environment greener and more beautiful.
