Synthesis and Characterization of AminoFunctionalized Polystyrene Nanoparticles as Reactive Filler
Conference paperA convenient method of preparing ultrafine polystyrene latex nano-particles with amino groups on the surface is developed. polystyrene latexes in the size range 50–400 nm were prepared via emulsion polymerization, using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant. The poly styrene with amino groups on the surface will be fine to use as organic filler to modify rubber. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to observe the morphology of silicon dioxide and functionalized polystyrene nanoparticles. The nature of bonding between the polymer and the reactive groups on the filler surfaces was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to examine the filler surface.

Polypropylene fibers fabricated via a needleless melt‐electrospinning device for marine oil‐spill cleanup
Journal ArticleUltrafine polypropylene (PP) fibers as oil sorbents were fabricated via a needleless melt‐electrospinning device and were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and contact‐angle analysis. PP fibers of various diameters and porosities were obtained by the manipulation of the applied electrical field. The effects of the fiber diameter and porosity on the oil‐sorption capacity and oil‐retention behavior were investigated. The experimental results demonstrate that for fiber diameter on the microscale, the porosity played a paramount role in determining the oil‐sorption capacities. The maximum oil‐sorption capacity of the resulting PP fibers with regard to motor oil and peanut oil were 129 and 80 g/g, respectively; these values were approximately six to seven times that of commercial PP nonwoven fabricated through the melt‐blown method. In addition, even after seven sorption/desorption cycles, the oil‐sorption …

TEACHERS PERCEPTION AND THEIR IMPLEMENTATION OF LEARNER-CENTERED APPROACH IN TEACHING ENGLISH
Master ThesisABSTRACT
Hamza Salem Mohamed. S89130249. 2015. Teachers’ Perception and Their
Emplementation of Learner Centered Approach in Teaching English. Thesis.
English Education Department. Graduate School. Sebelas Maret University of
Surakarta. First Advisor: Dr. Ngadiso, M.Pd.; Second Advisor: Dra. Dewi
Rochsantiningsih, M.Ed., Ph.D.
The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the teachers’ belief about language
learning of learner-centered approach in Junior high school in teaching English,
(2) to analyze the implementation of learner-centered approach employed by
junior school teacher in teaching English.
The research method is qualitative research in which the design is case study. The
place of study is Junior High School Al Irsyad Surakarta in the academic year of
2014. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, questionnaire,
and documentation. The technique of data validity is triangulation method and the
data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display, and data conclusion.
The analysis on the data shows: (1) Teachers are especially experienced, have
enough knowledge and skill to apply student centered approach to help students to
improve their learning. Teachers’ beliefs about student centered approach have
influenced by their experience as EFL learners. Therefore, teachers’ beliefs highly
play an important part in improving their effectiveness as the primary mediators
between the subject and the learners, highly influence by using different
techniques of authentic assessment, (2) the implementation of student centered
learning is focused on students activity through observing, delivering questions,
associating through discussion and communicating. Observing and delivering
questions are to acquire the information or the skill through presentation and
brainstorming. Practicing and discussion focus on the students’ Activity for
interaction, working together in discussion, sharing ideas and various activities in
centered learning activity, in which they increase learning motivation and grou
p
discussion. Communicating focuses on delivering their result of discussion.
The implication of this study is that teachers’ beliefs about student centered
learning as well as their roles in the learning activity influence their belief toward
learning outcomes and what should the students do in learning activity, and the
assessesment process. In English language learning, teachers’ belief plays an
important role in affecting their effectiveness in teaching as the primary mediators
between the subject and the learners.
Key words: Students-Centered approah, Teachers’ perception

Challenges Facing IASs/IFRS Implementation by Libyan Listed Companies
Journal ArticleThis study examines the factors that may be considered as challenges or difficulties facing the implementation of the International Accounting Standards (IASs), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), by Libyan companies listed on the Libyan Stock Market (LSM). A qualitative approach was employed using semi-structured interviews to collect data. The results reveal that most listed companies prepare their financial statements taking into account the existing laws and the financial regulations, such as the Tax Law, and Libyan Commercial Law, prior to the GAAP with which they comply. The study also finds that the challenges facing the IASs/IFRS implementation in the preparation of listed companies’ financial reports include the following: 1) most listed companies do not offer training programmes, and those that do have only weak provision in this respect, 2) accountants lack adequate skills, awareness and capabilities in implementing IASs/IFRS, 3) accounting education curricula do not include the IASs/IFRS on their syllabus, 4) the vast majority of participants are unable to use the English language in preparing accounts, 5) there is an absence of enforcement from the LSM and external auditors, and 6) the LSM governance mechanisms are weak
